Bah! Will I ever look cool on the bus!? Going downtown for hockey and drinks. Got on bus, glasses fogged up, tried to put money where there was no slot. Driver had to move my hand because I kept trying! GAK

It's been a while since I've taken the bus. Technology sure has changed! Electronic transfers and scanners. Cool to be sure, but confusing for a newbie...or a returning rider.

Still, not an unpleasant experience this morning. The added people watching opportunity is awesome!

Today's carpool experience was better than GennyK removing facial hair with needlenose pliers; better than the crow who is now stalking us; and better than all the fun times over the last 4 months. For today, the carpooligans won the 103.1 Virgin Radio World Tour Leg #2.

We are going to LONDON ENGLAND where we will see Maroon 5 in concert with Robin Thicke.

Of course, there is no question that the carpooligans, formerly BUScapades, will be London Birds jetting to the UK for the adventure of a lifetime!

While Jenga thinks the best carpool moment in Sept was me just doing cosmetic maintenance…

I would like to counter and offer up the best carpool moment of September as this.

Waiting at a red light, we are both captivated by this large crow walking down the sidewalk.

We offer up funny narration about its behaviour and then it starts freaking out.

Walks closer to the car with angry hops with its wing spread out

And it totally looked like he was mad!

‘You talking to me?’

‘YOU TALKING TO ME??’

Good thing the light turned green – either he was kicking our ass or Jenga would’ve had an accident in the car.

Today's lesson is:  Don't be judgy!

I got off the bus on Portage Ave and saw two people bump into each other.  One was an older gentleman and one was a young man that I assumed was in a gang or some sort of punk. The young man turned around and started yelling, "Hey!  Hey!" at the older man.  I started to back up and think, "Great!  Here we go."  He then picked a hat up off the ground and chased after the older man.  He tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Here, you dropped this." 

I have been humbled this morning.

I've been accused....not with out cause mind you....of being "too" excited about the carpool.

So I'm instituting the COUNTDOWN TO CARPOOLIGANS!

Today is t minus 4 days.

Things I won't miss? Bus drivers who throw me around with their crazy stop and start. Who corner so fast that you have to hold on for dear life. I will not miss the sore lower back.

So, this is likely the last week of riding the transit bus.

Happy to report the reinstated carpool. Posts will not cease. We will simply transition to carpooligans? JGenanigans? Not sure yet.

This morning's bus ride is brought to you by AC/DC, courtesy of the gentleman two seats over soon to be diagnosed with acute hearing loss.

On the plus side? Getting a great core workout from driver who has breaking and acceleration issues and takes corners like he's driving the General Lee!

This morning, on the bus of course, I was thinking about how awesome my mom is. Then it occurred to me that next weekend is mother's day so I thought I'd post this.

The bus is losing its luster for me. Perhaps it's the addition of the Ikea loop which means on the way home each day I now miss my convenient transfer and have to wait an extra 20 minutes for the next one.
Or perhaps it's just overall human nature to complain about every random thing. Today it's the rain. I was just happy that it has finally stopped snowing and if its raining... This is sure to be followed by lawns greening up shortly.

Well, not so according to the idle chatter at the bus stop...the attitudes pretty much resembled that of a lynch mob. Why can't people just try to see the silver lining on the clouds of life?

A woman from my condo building catches the morning bus to Polo Park at the same time as I do every day.

Now, while I appreciate having a new bus buddy, unless you can get me as giddy as Jenga does in the morning, I think I’d rather just sit quietly and listen to the funny radio morning shows.

The endless chatter about how much time the Ikea loop has delayed our route by, every day…..just makes the ride seem that much longer – ugh.

Stalker alert!

Because of my flex work schedule, I rarely catch the bus at the same time in the morning. Regardless of the time, the same lady gets on two stops down the street. She's the regular I call cranky lady. She always has a sour face and reeks of smoke. She also has to be close to 60 and dresses like a teenage boy.

Just spent a good 5 minutes reading over past posts. A few observations:

1. I have considered, of late, car pooling again instead of riding the bus. But why would I when I so clearly love the commute? I do miss the morning radio shows though
2. Jenga and I have such a similar writing style that I can't tell my own posts from hers without the signature sometimes.
3. I need to blog more regularly.

Saw evidence of a true Samaritan on the bus this afternoon. A young girl fainted and fell to the floor. A man bent down ensured she was in the recovery position. When she woke, he started assessing seizure vs. fainting spell. She was obviously confused to have woken up on the floor with everyone staring at her. She announced it was her stop. This kind man led her off the bus holding her hand and walked with her to where she could sit. I'm positive it wasn't his stop and he stayed with her.

Well, I slept in big time this morning. Showered, brushed teeth (and other bathroom stuff), dressed and out the door in under 20 minutes. Did not miss the bus.

It's too early for coherent thought. This morning's bus musings are toques.

I'm calculating the ratio of toques with pompoms vs. just straight up toques.  Also, does the pompom make the toque a toque?

Also, why do people wear toques in summer just to be cool. When we were kids we were made to wear them in winter.  However, as soon as we got on the school bus we took them off and put them in our bags because it was NOT cool to wear a toque. It also flattered our big eighties hair.
